This year on Giving Tuesday, people came together on Facebook to raise over USD 125 million to support the causes they care about. Non-profit organisations will receive an update email from Facebook about donations made on Giving Tuesday, including matched donations, after 29 November 2018.

Each year on Giving Tuesday, people are looking for ways to give back and support the causes that mean the most to them. We offer a variety of fundraising tools on Facebook for both charities and people, making it easy to give this Giving Tuesday.

Matching donations

This year, Facebook is partnering with PayPal to match donations up to USD 7 million to US charities on Facebook.

No fees

Charities using Facebook Payments to process donations pay no fee – 100% of the donations made through Facebook Payments go to the charity.

New tools

Facebook has added new features to help charities reach their fundraising goals. Page fundraisers, fundraiser matching, where anyone can match donations to their fundraiser. Recurring donations and the thank you feature.

PayPal is partnering with Facebook this festive season to support charitable giving – together, we’re matching up to USD 7 million in donations made on Giving Tuesday. PayPal is a quick and secure way to donate on Facebook. 100% of donations made on Facebook go to the selected charity.

We believe that matching shows we mean it, and motivates more people to give. So we’re making it easier for you to get more people behind your cause, too. You can now encourage giving to a fundraiser that you’ve created by pledging to match donations – pledge to match any amount that fits your budget between USD 5 and USD 2,500.

FAQs

Is the match available outside the US?

The matching dollars are available to any US-based charity. If you are located outside the US and decide to fundraise for a US-based charity, donations to your fundraiser could be matched.

How will I know if my fundraiser received a match?

We’ll let you know if your donation or fundraiser was matched on #GivingTuesday via email after 29 November. This is only visible to you.

When does the match start and end?

The match begins at 8 am EST (5 am PST) on 27 November. Donations will be matched dollar for dollar on a first-come, first-served basis and will continue until it has run out.

How soon is the match paid out?

Matches will be paid out within 75 days of Giving Tuesday.
